Memory Trained Pleat Curtains Guide

ShapeLock is our proprietary memory-training technology that gives your drapes crisp, lasting pleats. Through a controlled heat-setting process, the fabric develops a permanent "memory" — keeping folds defined and symmetrical without daily fussing.

What is Memory Training for Drapery?

Memory training is a controlled heat-setting process that gives your curtains the ability to hold their shape and pleats neatly. By instilling a "memory" in the fabric, the technique ensures your curtains maintain their pristine appearance whether open or closed.

Through careful steaming, pressing, and setting at precise temperatures, memory training helps your curtains retain their form, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the room and ensuring a consistent, polished finish over time.

ShapeLock Memory Trained — crisp vertical streamline

ShapeLock Memory Trained

Crisp, lasting vertical streamline — pleats hold their shape from top to bottom.

Non-Memory Trained

Without heat-setting, fabric tends to lose its shape and structure toward the bottom.

How the ShapeLock Process Works

1

Prepare the Molds

Custom molds are created to match your exact curtain dimensions and pleat configuration.

2

Insert the Drapes into the Molds

Each panel is carefully placed into its mold, aligning the pleats precisely.

3

Load the Shaping Rack

All molds are placed into our proprietary shaping rack for even heat distribution.

4

Push the Rack into the Steamer

The rack enters our industrial memory-training steamer.

5

Heat-Setting Process

High-temperature steam is applied for a precisely timed cycle — approximately 2 hours at controlled temperature.

6

Remove & Cool

After the cycle completes, the rack is removed and the drapes cool into their permanent shape.

7

Final Inspection & Packing

Each panel is inspected, folded to preserve its shape, and packed to arrive in perfect condition.

The Result

After ShapeLock memory training, your drapes combine both aesthetics and texture — crisp pleats that hold their definition from the moment you hang them.

Size Limitations

Packaging & Care

For memory trained curtains, we fold and pack each panel following its natural pleat shape to maximize the training effect. Upon arrival, simply remove from packaging and hang — the pleats will fall into place immediately.

If creases appear from extended storage, a light steam or gentle iron will restore the trained shape. Memory training effects vary slightly by fabric type — heavier fabrics hold their shape especially well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does memory training work on all fabrics?+

Memory training produces different effects depending on the fabric. Heavier fabrics like linen, cotton, and velvet hold the trained shape especially well. Sheer fabrics benefit less due to their lightweight nature.

Is ShapeLock safe?+

Yes. Our memory-training process uses only heat and steam — no chemical stiffeners or toxic treatments. All materials are eco-friendly and safe for homes with children and pets.

Can memory-trained curtains be washed?+

Yes. Unlike traditional buckram-stiffened curtains which cannot be machine washed, ShapeLock memory-trained drapes are fully washable. The pleats will maintain their trained shape through multiple wash cycles.

How long will the memory training last?+

The memory-training effect is permanent under normal use. The heat-setting process permanently alters the fabric structure at the pleat points, so the shape will last the lifetime of your curtains.
